Cat Tails

Up in the Silverton area there’s this place that we love to go in the spring and early summer. It’s a narrow valley with a gravel road winding through a set of farms and grain mills. On the side of one hill grows a mass of (cultivated) flowers — Cosmos, sunflowers, baby’s breath, you name it… I always take photos of the hillside, but during our latest trip I turned my head the other way and noticed that there was a narrow line of cat tails winding its way across the valley, following what must have been the smallest creek I’ve ever seen. It was fascinating because the creek and its cat tails seemed to create a mostly uniform, natural 4-ft fence between the fields. I snapped this photo of it, thinking that it could be a good painting inspiration.
