We’re getting hot on the trail of Christmas now and I just wanted to reminisce a little about holiday traditions in our family. While we are not a religious family, Christmas has a very special meaning to us, and perhaps this year when many of us are sacrificing our holiday gatherings to keep one another healthy, it becomes even more clear… the holidays are about the people that we love! We are going to miss that so much this year, and it is going to be really hard to have holiday magic while staying away.
In our family, the holidays are about getting together, sharing fun times, eating delicious food, seeing how the kids have grown and changed, and remembering the people who have been with us in the past and made holiday magic real for us. It’s a reminder that if we want magic, we have to make it. If we want to have traditions, we need to participate in them, learn them, and pass them along. It’s also a time to realize that some traditions maybe don’t need to be traditions, and perhaps there are better ways, that make even more joy. Perhaps we will try some new things and make some new traditions this year. I truly believe that there is something good to take away from every situation, and this year’s holiday season is no exception.
Happy holiday season to you, from this daughter and mother, and may you find a way to share joy. Peace!
